We are convinced of the potential of our place to deliver high quality grapes that translate to unique wines.
Funckenhausen Vineyards is located in 25 de Mayo – San Rafael – Mendoza.
Our proximity to the foothills of the pre-Andean mountain range determines our location within the alluvial cone formed by the main river of San Rafael – the Diamante River – which is decisive in the composition of our soils.
Our soils are heterogeneous and highly permeable, formed by a first sandy loam layer mixed with boulders of different sizes at variable depths, caliches (calcrete) and deposits of calcareous materials.
Being one of the highest planted properties in the southern oasis of Mendoza (850 m.a.s.l.), we benefit from a comparatively cooler climate than the rest of the department, which is reflected in the profile of our wines.
We segmented the vineyard according to soil profiles to highlight the natural diversity of our place. Depending on the origin of the grapes we will adapt our winemaking protocol.
